Its something same like “We want change” said by Obama. Here i can say like “We want standard for video tag in HTML5″. The draft of the HTML5 specifications released today with some new features. This specification has introduced new tags called <video> tag, <audio> tag and etc. This could be a very needful features for now. But i don’t think, the way they are enhancing is good. Especially the video tag depends other players like Flash Player or Quick Time Player. They have written conditioned code within the video tag. This could be really a drawback of this standard.
Why we can not make standard on <video> tag?
This is due to the Rights and patents of the media codecs. Btw the bad news is everyone who using H.264 should pay for that from 2010. To standardize this video tag, we need to develop a generalized Open Source Media Codec which should fulfils the W3C standards. May be i can do the same if i have a chance to develop the codec.
We want the <video> tag as simple as <img> tag. Probably the <img> tag will support all type of images. Same like <video> should support at least one generic video type and it will be a great enough.
I think we can expect a very good media standards in HTML6.
